(Los Angeles, CA) Authorities are seeking assistance from the community to identify the motorist responsible for a hit-and-run accident on 20th Street that seriously injured a 64-year-old cyclist earlier this year in the Pico-Union area. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the incident took place at approximately 3:15 a.m. on May 43183. The man was traveling south on Hoover Street and was crossing 20th Street within a designated crosswalk. Meanwhile, a white sedan turned left from the northbound lane of Hoover onto westbound 20th Street. At that time, the car hit the cyclist and proceeded towards the west on-ramp of Interstate 10. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and took the victim to a local hospital. Upon arrival, he received treatment for critical injuries. Authorities have shared footage from the surveillance cameras capturing the accident and are appealing to the public for any information. They ask anyone who knows something to reach out to Detective Holmes at the LAPD’s West Traffic Division by calling 213-473-0216. This request pertains to the hit-and-run incident that occurred on 20th Street. Accidents involving drivers trying to escape are particularly alarming as they frequently result in severe injuries for the victims and minimal opportunity for prompt assistance.
