Turlock, CA (March 26, 2026) – A woman was killed and a man sustained serious injuries in a collision Tuesday evening at the N. Gratton Road and East Avenue intersection east of Turlock. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 5:30 p.m. following reports of a crash between two vehicles. Preliminary reports show that a 16-year-old girl from El Dorado Hills was driving south on N. Gratton Rd when her car failed to yield at East Ave. Officials stated the vehicle proceeded into the intersection and collided with a pickup truck passing through the area. The collision resulted in serious injuries to the truck’s occupants. It was being operated by a 76-year-old man from the Delhi area in Merced County. He was transported to Memorial Medical Center suffering from serious injuries. The driver’s passenger, an 80-year-old woman from the Delhi area, was rushed to a hospital, where she later died. Officials said the teenage driver sustained minor injuries. A 77-year-old man from Merced County’s Winton area, who was a passenger in her vehicle, sustained no injuries. Authorities noted that all individuals in the crash were wearing seat belts. Officials indicated that impairment is not thought to have played a role in the collision.
