Montebello, CA (May 23, 2026) – One person was killed and another was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash early this morning on the eastbound 60 Freeway near the Paramount Boulevard exit in Montebello. The collision was reported at approximately 2:33 a.m. California Highway Patrol officers found one individual in the center lanes of the freeway. A second person stayed trapped inside a black sedan that had crashed into a freeway barrier. Rescuers extracted the individual from the wrecked vehicle, after which the patient was transported to a hospital. The severity of the injuries was not disclosed. The name, age and gender of the person who died had not been released as of Saturday morning. Eastbound traffic on the freeway was severely disrupted for several hours after a SigAlert shut down all lanes near Paramount Blvd. The road reopened just after 6 a.m. Investigators are still working to piece together how the crash occurred.
