Sacramento, CA (March 9, 2026) – A pedestrian was fatally struck by vehicles Saturday night in Sacramento. The crash happened just after 8:00 p.m. On March 7, near the Norwood Avenue and Jessie Avenue intersection, emergency responders arrived after reports of a vehicle-pedestrian collision and discovered an adult male lying in the road. Emergency responders tried to save the man’s life at the scene, but he was declared dead on site. Authorities reported that two vehicles were part of the crash; one fled before police arrived, while the other driver stayed at the scene. Officials have withheld the pedestrian’s identity pending notification of next of kin. The crash is still being investigated. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the victim who passed away. Why Intersection Pedestrian Crashes Can Be So Serious. Streets like Norwood Avenue and Jessie Avenue typically experience a consistent stream of traffic from multiple directions. When pedestrians cross at intersections or on nearby roads, they might face vehicles coming from several lanes. Crashes with pedestrians can cause severe injuries since people walking have minimal protection in a collision. Even at moderate speeds, a vehicle colliding with a person can inflict serious injury. Urban intersections might also feature turning vehicles, poor nighttime visibility, and adjacent driveways or side streets.
