Los Angeles, CA (March 9, 2026) – A single-vehicle crash in Los Angeles’ Porter Ranch area on Sunday morning claimed one life and left two others with serious injuries. The incident took place just after 10 a.m. On March 8, along North Tampa Avenue near 10502 N. Tampa Avenue—a few blocks south of the Ronald Reagan Freeway—emergency units responded to the scene and discovered a vehicle that had collided with a light pole on the roadway. Responders confirmed one fatality at the scene due to the collision. Two others involved in the crash suffered serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the victims’ identities or information regarding the vehicle involved. Authorities have yet to determine what caused the vehicle to hit the light pole, and the incident is still being investigated. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the victim who passed away, and hope for a swift recovery for those hurt. Why Crashes Involving Utility Poles Can Be Severe. Streets like North Tampa Avenue frequently feature streetlights and utility poles located near the road. If a vehicle departs from its travel lane, these structures can turn into stationary obstacles in its path. Impacts with poles may result in severe damage since the structure remains immobile upon collision.
