Ventura, CA (September 27, 2025) – A pedestrian lost their life after being hit by a car late Thursday night on Highway 101 close to State Route 33. The fatal accident happened just after 11:20 p.m. As per the California Highway Patrol, reports state that a man tried to move from the right shoulder into the fast lane of the highway when he was hit by a vehicle traveling south. Emergency responders reached the scene promptly but unfortunately discovered the pedestrian had already passed away. The driver of the vehicle involved stayed at the site and is working with law enforcement as they continue their investigation. Authorities have not disclosed the victim’s identity as they await notification of family members. The incident caused major traffic delays on Highway 101 close to the SR 33 interchange while investigators gathered evidence and crews attempted to clear the road.
