(Phoenix, AZ) A man in a motorized wheelchair died Sunday night, Dec. 14, following a crash on 60th Lane in west Phoenix. Officers arrived on scene around 9:38 p.m. to 60th Lane and McDowell Road following reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian. When police arrived, they found the man in critical condition. Phoenix Fire paramedics took him to a nearby hospital, where he died later. The car driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The paramedics transported them to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Initial reports show the man in the motorized wheelchair crossed northbound outside the crosswalk. As he did so, the vehicle’s driver hit him. Police state that impairment is not suspected, with the Vehicular Crimes Unit ongoing in its investigation. Overview of the 60th Lane Crash.
