Long Beach, CA (January 6, 2026) – A severe multi-vehicle collision with numerous injuries took place late Saturday night at the East 56th Street and Atlantic Avenue intersection in Long Beach, triggering a mass casualty incident response. The crash was reported around 10:31 p.m. On 4 January. Dispatch audio indicates that emergency responders, including Engine Two and Battalion 1, reached the scene and promptly classified it as a Level One mass casualty incident, calling for extra command assistance to coordinate the operation. Several people sustained injuries, but the precise count and extent remain unverified. Medical personnel offered on-site treatment, with several patients probably taken to nearby hospitals for additional care. Traffic was heavily disrupted in the vicinity while emergency crews controlled the intersection and performed triage. Officials are probing the events surrounding the crash.
