(Scottsdale, AZ) A veteran business owner passed away following an incident at LA Milk Depot earlier this month, where he was hit by a vehicle in the store’s drive-thru. Dennis Thornton, who owned the south Scottsdale convenience store near 87th Street and McDowell Road, shut down his business on Dec. 7. Moments later, a car hit him, leading paramedics to rush him to the hospital. Even with life-saving efforts, he passed away days later. Police state the investigation has concluded, with no criminal charges against the driver, calling it a tragic accident. On Friday night, customers showed up to discover the store unlit and its parking lot deserted. Numerous people paused to pay their respects, recalling Thornton as a neighborhood staple for over 40 years. Overview of the LA Milk Depot Accident. When a pedestrian is hit in a private drive-thru lane, investigators frequently review the Failure to Exercise Due Care Law. This law mandates that drivers take reasonable measures to prevent collisions with pedestrians. In the LA Milk Depot incident, officers assessed visibility, vehicle motion, and pedestrian locations before concluding that no criminal charges were justified. As the event occurred in a low-speed zone where vehicles and pedestrians frequently intermingle, analysts might also examine the Reasonable and Prudent Speed Law.
