(Los Angeles, CA) On Thursday night, January 8, a 15-year-old boy suffered critical injuries after getting trapped in a two-vehicle crash on the Golden State (5) Freeway near Griffith Park. Los Angeles Fire Department crews arrived shortly before 8:20 p.m. To the northbound I-5 Freeway near Los Feliz Boulevard. Authorities reported that the crash involved two vehicles which collided and hit the center divider. Consequently, the teenage passenger was left trapped inside one of the vehicles. Firefighters took about 12 minutes to extricate the boy from the wreckage, per LAFD spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz. After being freed, paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Authorities did not disclose details about which vehicle the boy was in. Officials reported no further serious injuries at the scene. Emergency crews responding to the collision closed off the northbound lanes, causing traffic disruptions.
