Vista, CA (January 19, 2026) – Injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck early Monday morning on eastbound State Route 78 near Civic Center Dr., per the California Highway Patrol. The incident happened around 5:04 a.m. It initially involved emergency reports of a semi-truck on the right-hand shoulder and a dark gray Dodge pickup truck blocking lane #3. A black Ford pickup truck was also noted as potentially involved, with its hazard lights on and parked in the slow lane. CHP dispatch logs show the incident was upgraded to a confirmed injury crash (1179-Trfc Collision-1141 Enrt) by 5:15 a.m. , which prompted a medical response at the scene. One of the drivers allegedly called a family member for help following the crash, although the severity of injuries is still unverified. Safety cones were placed around the area, and traffic was disrupted while crews evaluated the scene and cleared the road. The incident’s cause is being investigated.
