Springville, CA (May 12, 2026) – At least one person died in a tragic house fire on Avenue 176 in Springville early Monday morning, May 11. Emergency responders got the call at approximately 5:30 a.m. More than a dozen fire engines rushed to the scene, but the blaze was already raging by the time they arrived. By the time emergency crews arrived, at least half the house was already engulfed in flames, creating extremely challenging conditions. Thick smoke and flames could be seen from miles away. It took roughly three and a half to four hours to completely extinguish the blaze. Teams conducted several searches of the residence before discovering a body on the last one. Animal remains are also thought to have been discovered inside. The victim has yet to be formally identified, but a neighbor named Mark Seitz claims the deceased was his landlord for the past 11 years. Seitz portrayed him as a gentle man in his late 80s who loved being outdoors, going to church, and looking after his cats.
