A fatal accident took place on the northbound 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks at around 3:28 a.m. on Saturday, resulting in one fatality and the closure of the freeway near an important interchange. The incident happened in the early hours of November 2, 2025, as per the California Highway Patrol’s report. immediately north of the 101 Freeway interchange. CHP officers and paramedics arrived soon after the incident was reported and verified that one individual had died at the location. The identity of the person who passed away has not been disclosed, and there is currently no available information about their age or gender. KTLA footage from the incident showed that at least one vehicle was oriented in the wrong direction, but officials have indicated that there is no evidence of any wrong-way driving before the crash. The precise number of vehicles involved and the occurrence of any additional injuries are still unknown. Consequently, the CHP enforced a complete shutdown of the northbound 405, along with all exit routes from the 101 Freeway. Traffic was greatly affected during the early morning rush hour as investigators and emergency teams worked on-site. The road was completely reopened by 8:10 a.m. Authorities are still looking into the cause of the crash and examining all contributing factors.
