San Jose, CA (January 24, 2026) – Emergency services responded to a collision involving a pedestrian early Friday morning at the King Rd and Cunningham Ave intersection in San Jose. The incident took place around 6:28 a.m. On January 23, the incident caused major traffic disruptions and rerouting of transit vehicles in the area. Dispatch audio reports indicate that a vehicle traveling westbound on King Rd. struck a pedestrian near a busy intersection, raising immediate safety concerns and triggering a swift emergency response. The pedestrian reportedly suffered injuries, although the severity has not yet been officially verified. Bus operators in the vicinity reported that westbound traffic on King Rd halted completely, with emergency lights flashing at the scene and the road entirely obstructed. First responders managed traffic and recommended detours via Cunningham Ave, Bermuda Dr, and Ocala Ave to allow safe passage for nearby vehicles. Officials have not provided additional details about the injured pedestrian’s condition or whether the driver stayed at the scene.
