Pomona, CA (May 3, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision amid the morning rush hour blocked lanes and hospitalized one individual on the westbound I-10 connector to State Route 57. The California Highway Patrol reported the incident at approximately 7:55 a.m. It involved several vehicles, such as a red Toyota RAV4, a truck, a black sedan, and a white sedan. All vehicles came to a stop on the right shoulder after the crash. Officials later concluded the incident consisted of three distinct collisions in the same location. One person was taken to a hospital for treatment, but the severity of their injuries remains undisclosed. The crash initially closed the No. 2 lane, causing traffic backups while crews handled the situation. Tow services were called for damaged vehicles, including a Tesla with front-end damage, by about 8:42 a.m. The roadway had been cleared, and traffic flow was restored. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. We hope for a quick recovery for the injured individual. How Do Multi-Collision Incidents Occur on Freeway Transitions? Freeway transitions are high-risk zones where drivers must change speed, merge, and handle shifting traffic patterns over a short distance. These conditions can facilitate one crash triggering further collisions in the vicinity. When a vehicle abruptly slows or stops, drivers behind it may lack sufficient time to respond, particularly amid heavy morning rush-hour traffic.
