Los Angeles, CA (February 20, 2026) – The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that two individuals were rescued from a mangled vehicle after a two-car collision in East Hollywood on February 19. The incident took place around 12:45 p.m. In the 1000 block of North Normandie Avenue, close to its intersection with Santa Monica Boulevard. Firefighters responded rapidly and found two people trapped in one of the vehicles. Crews employed specialized equipment to safely extract them from the wreckage. Officials verified that at least three individuals were involved in the incident. Although the rescue was dramatic, no one involved needed hospital treatment, LAFD spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton said. The intersection faced temporary disruptions as emergency crews cleared the area and carried out their probe. Officials are still looking into what caused the crash, with further information to be shared when ready. We’re keeping those affected in our thoughts and hope for their swift recovery. Why Extrications Are Sometimes Required Even Without Hospital Transport. Not every vehicle crash with trapped occupants results in hospital admissions. In certain situations—such as this one in East Hollywood—passengers might be physically trapped inside the vehicle from door damage, collapsed panels, or airbag deployment, even without serious injuries. Firefighters are trained to evaluate the safest way to extricate occupants without inflicting further harm.
