What Factors Are Often Reviewed After a Pedestrian Crash on a Freeway? When a pedestrian collision happens on a freeway, various factors are typically investigated to reconstruct the incident. Freeways are mainly designed for vehicles, so pedestrian incidents usually involve atypical situations. Investigators often examine traffic flow at the time of the crash. This may encompass vehicle speed, lane position, and whether the driver had time to react prior to the collision. Lighting conditions could also factor in, particularly if the crash occurred in the evening or at night. Visibility on the roadway, adjacent ramps, and nearby structures can affect how quickly drivers spot pedestrians. Roadway design can also offer contextual clues.
