On November 19, 2025, an unfortunate accident transpired between a large truck and a compact SUV around midnight near the Lakewood Blvd overpass on northbound Interstate 5 in Downing, CA. The incident left one individual severely injured and trapped. The California Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred shortly after 12:00 a.m. when a large truck crashed into a small SUV, causing the SUV to get stuck under the trailer. First responders rushed to the scene and found the SUV’s driver still breathing but stuck under the debris. The fire department verified that the ‘Jaws of Life’ would be necessary to rescue the individual. Additionally, a powerful tow truck and crane were called in to remove the semi-trailer from the damaged car. The driver was seen and was reportedly breathing when rescued. The accident led to the shutdown of several lanes, including the Lakewood Blvd on-ramp, as emergency teams and towing services worked to clear the area. The recovery efforts were vast, needing specialized tools and collaboration between CHP and fire teams. There have been no updates on the driver’s condition. We are thinking of the injured person and wish for a quick and complete recovery.
