A crash on Market Street claimed the life of 23-year-old Daniel Melgar from Ontario on the evening of Wednesday, October 15, as reported by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies were sent to the location near Market Street and 24th Street around 7:20 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered that Melgar had passed away at the location. The Coroner’s Office in Riverside County later identified him and informed his family. Officials stated that the crash involved another car whose driver stayed at the location and assisted the investigators. Law enforcement officials observed that substances like alcohol or drugs seemed to play a role, but it was uncertain which individual involved might have been impaired. There were no immediate arrests. Authorities temporarily shut down Market Street from Hall Avenue to Rivera Street to conduct their investigation and clear the area.
