Amador County, CA (October 14, 2025) – A fatal accident on Highway 88 resulted in one death and critically injured another individual late Monday night, leading to a brief shutdown of the road for emergency responders. The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident took place on October 13 and is currently being investigated. One individual was declared dead at the location of the incident, while another was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. Officials have not disclosed the identities or ages of the people involved, and the cause of the accident remains unknown. Highway 88 was closed in both directions nearby as emergency responders attended to the injured and cleared debris from the road. Caltrans later verified that the highway resumed operations for vehicles shortly before 11:00 PM. The CHP is still looking into the incident and is trying to find out if speed, distraction, or other elements contributed to it.
