In deadly motorcycle accidents with large commercial vehicles, investigators frequently examine various important California traffic safety regulations. The Basic Speed Law mandates that all drivers must drive at a speed that is safe and appropriate given the traffic and road conditions. Driving too fast or making unsafe lane changes near large trucks often leads to freeway accidents. The Following-Too-Closely Law mandates that drivers keep a safe distance to have enough time to respond to abrupt changes in traffic, which is especially crucial when driving near big trucks that need more time to stop. Additionally, the Lane Sharing and Safety Law regulates how motorcyclists can navigate between lanes of traffic.
