North Highlands, CA (September 15, 2025) – On Sunday night, emergency personnel from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to a fatal train accident in the North Highlands region. Emergency services and firefighters responded quickly after hearing that a man had been hit by a Union Pacific train close to the junction of Roseville Rd and Walerga Rd shortly after 8 p.m. When they arrived, responders found the person close to the tracks. The man, suffering from severe injuries, was sadly declared dead at the location. The individual’s identity is still undisclosed as the family has yet to be informed. Officials from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office were present at the scene, but it has been confirmed that Union Pacific Railroad will head the investigation regarding the details of the accident. Details about the train crew and other parties involved have not yet been disclosed, and it is still uncertain why the pedestrian was on the tracks at that moment. While investigators strive to uncover the reasons behind this tragic collision, the community is grieving for the loss of life in this incident, which authorities are considering very serious. We are keeping the victim’s family and friends in our thoughts during this challenging period.
