Thousand Palms, CA (April 15, 2026) – A crash between a semi-truck and an SUV on the eastbound I-10 off-ramp at Monterey Ave in Thousand Palms left one person injured. The incident happened around 5:17 a.m. On Wednesday, April 15, at the Monterey Avenue overcrossing. Emergency responders arrived following reports of a collision between a semi-truck and a GMC SUV at the intersection. Initial accounts indicate the semi-truck was turning right onto southbound Monterey Ave when it struck the SUV. The collision caused the semi-truck to ignite, but firefighters at the scene swiftly put out the flames. The SUV driver, a male, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for care. The semi-truck driver sustained no injuries. The off-ramp and adjacent lanes were briefly shut down as crews cleared the area. All lanes are now open.
