Indio, CA (February 22, 2026) – A 40-year-old man was killed Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Interstate 10 in Indio. The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, along westbound I-10 near Golf Center Pkwy.. Emergency units responded to reports of a pedestrian hit on the freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was crossing from the right shoulder toward the center median when a Ford truck struck him.. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.. Traffic along westbound I-10 was stalled for several hours as crews worked at the scene and investigators examined the area. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased..
