(Orange, CA) A fatal crash on the Orange (57) Freeway Monday morning, January 19, killed one person and injured another, closing multiple lanes during peak commute hours. CHP officers arrived shortly after 7:30 a.m. to the northbound 57 Freeway by Chapman Avenue. According to investigators, the crash involved up to four vehicles. The crash led to major traffic disruptions as emergency responders hurried to the site. Firefighters from the Metro Cities Fire Authority took two individuals to a hospital after the incident. The CHP later confirmed that one of the patients succumbed to their injuries. Officials withheld the victim’s name, age, and gender until next of kin are notified. The condition of the surviving injured person was not revealed right away. Authorities shut down all but two right lanes of the northbound freeway for the emergency response and investigation. Officers photographed the scene, removed debris, and worked with tow trucks to clear the wrecked vehicles.
