(Los Angeles, CA) On Saturday, August 27, around 12:40 p.m. In South Los Angeles, a hit-and-run incident on Gage Avenue resulted in the death of 56-year-old William Jones, prompting officials to secure the area and investigate the cause of the crash. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that Jones was walking beside parked cars on Gage Avenue, just east of Vermont Avenue. Without warning, a car heading east hit him. The driver proceeded towards Hoover Street without halting. Paramedics took Jones to a local hospital, where he passed away the next day due to his injuries. Authorities have not yet provided details regarding the suspect’s vehicle or the driver. The South Traffic Division of the LAPD is seeking help from the public and is encouraging anyone who has information to reach out to Officer Lozada at 213-677-9791. Investigators are still examining local surveillance videos in an effort to find the culprit. Authorities indicated that there are currently no additional details available as they continue to search for the driver involved in the hit-and-run incident.
