(Thousand Palms, CA) Two adults sustained major injuries Monday night, January 19, following a head-on crash on Varner Road. CHP officers arrived shortly before 9:30 p.m. to Varner Road, located west of Cook Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two vehicles with severe front-end damage situated in opposing lanes. Investigators found that a Hyundai heading eastbound collided head-on with a Toyota traveling westbound. Emergency responders treated the occupants on-site before transporting two adults to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. According to CHP, both patients suffered major injuries. Officials did not disclose the names, ages, or exact seating locations of those in the vehicles. CHP Officer David Torres stated that authorities did not believe alcohol or drugs played a role. Investigators offered no information on speed, lane position prior to the collision, or the potential influence of road conditions. Opinion on the Varner Road Accident.
