(San Diego, CA) A motorcyclist died in a crash on Pershing Drive near Balboa Park early Sunday, December 28. The incident happened around 1:40 a.m. in the 2000 block of Pershing Drive when a motorcycle crashed into an SUV. Timothy Scott Lowman, a 51-year-old from San Diego, sustained fatal injuries while riding. A passerby dialed 911, prompting emergency responders to arrive and attempt aid, though they declared him dead shortly before 2 a.m. The San Diego Police Department is probing the details surrounding the crash. Lowman was recognized in the local music scene as the lead singer for Low Volts, Blackout Party, and various other bands. Friends and fellow musicians paid tribute to him as a kind, talented, and cherished individual. Overview of the Pershing Drive Accident. Accidents between motorcycles and larger vehicles frequently prompt investigators to examine the Right-of-Way and Turning Movement Law. This law mandates that drivers executing left turns or U-turns must yield to approaching traffic posing a hazard. In the Pershing Drive accident, officers will evaluate roadway angles, sightlines, and movement patterns to determine if either party had the legal right-of-way at the moment of impact. Since severe motorcycle injuries often involve speed and reaction time, analysts may also apply the Basic Speed Law.
