On November 24, 2025, in Santa Maria, CA, a woman died following a high-speed crash that had been halted by the police just moments prior, as reported by the Santa Maria Police Department. The deadly accident happened just after 10:00 p.m. at the crossroads of Stowell Rd and Bradley Rd. The situation started when officers reacted to reports of reckless driving and found a white Jeep driving erratically close to Blosser Rd and Cook St. They began a short chase but ended it less than a minute later near Stowell Rd and Western Ave because of safety worries. However, the Jeep’s driver continued east on Stowell Rd at a high speed, allegedly running several red lights. In a matter of minutes, the Jeep crashed into another car at the intersection of Stowell Rd and Bradley Rd, causing the woman behind the wheel of the Jeep to be thrown out of the vehicle due to the impact. She was declared dead at the location. Authorities have not disclosed her identity as they are waiting to inform her family. Police reported that the people in the other vehicle were unharmed. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the woman who tragically lost her life.
