Sanger, CA (March 20, 2026) – A suspected DUI crash on Wednesday afternoon resulted in one fatality near Central and De Wolf avenues, southwest of Sanger. Emergency services responded following reports of a crash between a Ford truck and a Toyota. Reports indicate the Ford driver, heading east on Central Avenue, tried to turn and entered the path of the approaching Toyota. The Toyota driver was unable to avoid the crash. Jesse Hernandez, a 72-year-old front-seat passenger from Fowler, was killed at the scene and had not been wearing a seat belt. The Toyota driver tried to escape but was found by police and is being investigated for felony evading and DUI. Neither occupant of the Ford sustained injuries.
