San Leandro, CA (March 22, 2026) – A collision that may have resulted in a fatality led to significant traffic delays on Saturday morning, March 21, in the southbound lanes of Interstate 880 near Davis Street in San Leandro. The incident was reported at approximately 5:30 a.m. , and emergency services arrived at the scene soon afterward. Officials launched an investigation, summoning the county coroner to the site, which pointed to a death. Southbound lanes remained shut for hours while crews handled the scene. Traffic resumed flowing around 9 a.m. Once the roadway was partially reopened… In a separate incident, a crash involving a big rig that caused injuries affected the northbound connector from Interstate 238 to Interstate 880. As of around 9:15 a.m., lanes in that area were still closed. No further information has been disclosed about those involved in either crash.
