San Francisco, CA (January 15, 2026) – A collision involving two vehicles in downtown San Francisco injured several people on Wednesday evening, leading to an emergency response at the Larkin St. and California St. intersection. The crash happened around 7:05 p.m. , right as evening rush hour was picking up in the Nob Hill neighborhood. Reports indicate that two passenger cars crashed in the center of the intersection, causing extensive damage to both. One vehicle reportedly spun out onto the sidewalk, just missing nearby pedestrians. Emergency responders from the San Francisco Fire Department and paramedics arrived promptly at the scene. A number of people received treatment for their injuries, with at least one being taken to a nearby hospital for additional care. The precise number of injured individuals remains unconfirmed, with no serious injuries reported right away. Traffic on California Street was temporarily stopped as emergency responders aided the victims and cleared the wrecked vehicles. Both streets were reopened that evening after cleanup and an initial investigation. Officials continue to examine surveillance video and witness accounts to piece together the sequence of events before the crash. No citations or arrests have occurred at this point. Our thoughts are with all those impacted by the crash, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
