San Diego, CA (March 16, 2026) – Three individuals, including a young child, were injured in a residential fire on Sunday afternoon, March 15, in San Diego’s Mount Hope neighborhood. Emergency responders were sent out shortly before 4:30 p.m. Responded to a residence in the 400 block of Carlos Street following reports of a two-alarm structure fire. Firefighters arriving at the scene discovered an ongoing blaze at the home and immediately started efforts to extinguish the flames. Officials reported that an adult male sustained severe burns over much of his body and was left with life-threatening injuries. An adult female sustained severe burn injuries, and a 2-year-old child suffered burns to the face. Authorities stated that the woman and child’s injuries were not life-threatening. All three victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment after the fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze in approximately 20 minutes upon arriving at the scene. The fire’s cause is still being investigated, with additional details possibly forthcoming as officials review the incident. Our thoughts are with the injured as they receive treatment and recover.
