San Diego, CA (March 7, 2026) – Police are hunting for a hit-and-run suspect after a two-car crash early Wednesday morning, March 4, near the 58th Street and University Avenue intersection in San Diego’s Mid-City area. Authorities say a white Honda Civic and a red Honda Civic were involved in the collision, with the red vehicle’s driver fleeing on foot. The driver of the white Honda stayed at the scene, reporting chest pain, and was taken to UC San Diego Health with non-life-threatening injuries. The red Honda was subsequently impounded and will serve as evidence. No description of the suspect has been made public yet. The incident is still under investigation. Our thoughts are with the injured driver during their recovery. Understanding Hit-and-Run Collisions. Hit-and-run accidents happen when a driver flees the scene without offering assistance or sharing information. These incidents hinder investigations and can postpone medical treatment for the injured. Authorities typically depend on vehicle descriptions, eyewitness reports, and security video to pinpoint suspects. Motorists and pedestrians should stay alert, particularly in busy city areas with dense traffic, and promptly notify authorities of any suspicious activities.
