San Diego, CA (October 23, 2025) – A devastating traffic incident near a school resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy and left two other children critically injured on Tuesday morning in San Diego. The event took place around 7:20 in the morning. At the corner of Jackson Dr and Lake Murray Blvd, while the kids were headed to Pershing Middle School, an incident occurred. As reported by the San Diego Police, three sixth-grade students were hit by a car while they were crossing the road. Despite the attempts of the driver and emergency personnel, one of the children did not survive the incident. The two other girls, both aged 12, suffered significant injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. The driver stayed at the location and helped the children until the paramedics came. Officials subsequently verified that alcohol and drugs did not contribute to the accident. Initial evidence indicates that the driver may have been momentarily blinded by the morning sun, which contributed to the tragic accident. Traffic in the San Carlos vicinity was halted for several hours while investigators analyzed the scene and provided support to the families affected. The incident has profoundly affected the local community, particularly at Pershing Middle School, where grief counselors are now providing support.
