Porterville, CA (March 13, 2026) – A man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Thursday, March 12, at the intersection of State Route 65 and Lindmore Ave in Porterville. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 6:29 a.m. following reports of a major crash at the intersection. The crash involved a 2020 Ram 1500 pickup truck and a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck. Authorities reported that a 60-year-old man from Porterville, who was driving the Ram, was heading north on State Route 65 and tried to make a left turn onto Lindmore Avenue to go west. While maneuvering, the truck struck the Ford Ranger heading south on the highway. The collision made the Ford pickup spin around before it hit a metal light pole on the passenger side. The Ford Ranger’s driver, a 29-year-old Exeter man, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Sierra View Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced deceased. The Ram driver suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to Sierra View Hospital for care. The identities of the drivers involved have not been disclosed by officials. Authorities are still probing the cause of the crash, with additional details to be shared as they emerge. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends. Why Left-Turn Crashes at Intersections Are Particularly Hazardous. Left-turning vehicle collisions frequently happen at intersections with opposing traffic flows. A driver making a left turn must assess the speed and distance of approaching vehicles before entering their path. If the turn is executed too late or visibility is poor, an oncoming vehicle might lack sufficient time to brake or stop.
