A woman died and a man was taken to the hospital on November 12, following a multi-vehicle accident on the eastbound 60 Freeway in Montebello, as per authorities. The California Highway Patrol reported that their officers arrived at the scene at approximately 10:42 p.m. close to Atlantic Boulevard. A crash occurred between an orange Dodge Charger and a Nissan SUV, causing significant damage to both vehicles. CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig reported that the female driver of the Nissan was declared deceased at the scene by emergency personnel. The Charger driver was transported to a hospital by paramedics from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, but his condition was not reported right away. Authorities issued a SigAlert shortly after the accident, shutting down all eastbound lanes of the Pomona Freeway for several hours as investigators examined the scene. The reason for the crash is still being looked into. Summary of the Pomona Freeway Accident. When two cars crash at high speeds on a highway, investigators frequently start with the Basic Speed Law. This law mandates that drivers must travel at a safe speed based on traffic, weather, and road conditions, irrespective of the posted speed limits. If either vehicle was going too fast for the conditions on the freeway at night, that might be a contributing factor. If one driver performed a risky move before the collision, the Unsafe Lane Change Law could apply.
