Emergency responders arrived promptly, including hazmat experts who managed the disposal of a charred lithium-ion battery that caused the fire. No evacuations were required during the incident. Officials are still probing the fire’s origin, with further information to be shared when possible. We extend our sympathies to the injured individual during their recovery. Fire Safety and Lithium-Ion Battery Hazards. Fires in high-rise buildings present distinct hazards because of their elevation and the restricted entry for firefighters and rescuers. Smoke inhalation is a primary cause of injuries in such fires, underscoring the importance of early detection and swift evacuation. Lithium-ion batteries, widely used in electronic gadgets, may catch fire when damaged or charged incorrectly, generating extreme heat and toxic fumes.
