(San Clemente, CA) One person died in an early Monday, December 22, collision on El Camino Real near the Orange–San Diego County line, involving a big rig and a sedan. The incident was reported at approximately 2:34 a.m. at South El Camino Real and Cristianitos Road, close to the Trestles Beach Trailhead. The CHP shared limited details, mentioning that Oceanside-area units also responded because of the site’s location. Information regarding the occupants of the vehicles and the reason for the crash has not been disclosed yet. El Camino Real Collision Summary. In the event of a collision between a sedan and a big rig, investigators frequently review the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Operation Law. This law underscores commercial truck drivers’ duty to drive safely, given their vehicles’ greater weight and longer stopping distances. Using this law helps figure out the big rig’s position and movement prior to the El Camino Real collision. Officials might also take into account the Basic Speed Law. Darkness in the early morning, poor visibility, and roads next to highways all necessitate slower speeds.
