Roseville, CA (May 26, 2026) – A person was killed Monday morning when a vehicle struck a bicycle near Roseville High School, the Roseville Police Department reported. Authorities said the deadly collision occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Berry Street, between Tiger Way and Reserve Drive. A vehicle and a bicyclist collided on the road, but authorities have not yet confirmed whether the person who died was the cyclist or an occupant of the car. Officials have not released the victim’s identity while they notify the family, and they said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have played a role in the crash. Berry Street was reopened to traffic on Monday afternoon once the road had been cleared. Detectives are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash near the school grounds. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of the victim. Why Bike Accidents Near Schools Are Particularly Hazardous. Roads around schools typically see heavy traffic in the late morning and afternoon, which raises the risk of conflicts between cars and cyclists. Drivers can face pedestrians, cyclists, buses, and turning vehicles in quick succession, leaving little time to react. Unlike passengers in cars, cyclists have virtually no physical protection, so even moderate-speed collisions on the road can be deadly. Investigators typically examine factors such as visibility, traffic movement, driver attentiveness, and the cyclist’s position when analyzing these crashes.
