San Francisco, CA (March 29, 2026) – A deadly collision between a vehicle and two pedestrians took place Friday morning, March 27, in Chinatown. The event took place at approximately 7:44 a.m. At the corner of Jackson Street and Beckett Street, just east of Grant Avenue, authorities said a silver SUV struck two pedestrians while trying to park and then crashed into the front of New Lun Ting Cafe. The vehicle ended up partially embedded in the building’s facade. Emergency services arrived, transporting both pedestrians to a hospital—one in critical condition, the other with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One pedestrian later succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The driver, a 76-year-old man, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. Officials stated that alcohol and drugs were not involved in the crash. Authorities are still investigating the incident, with additional details to be shared as they emerge.
