Moreno Valley, CA (March 29, 2026) – A rapidly spreading house fire ravaged several homes in Moreno Valley, displacing multiple families. The fire was reported just after 5 p.m. On Thursday, March 26, in the 13400 block of Edgemont Street near Cottonwood Avenue, just east of Interstate 215, emergency units arrived to find a house engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to nearby structures. Firefighters swiftly contained the fire by setting up hose lines and gaining control of the situation within roughly 90 minutes. All occupants had safely evacuated prior to the responders’ arrival at the scene. The fire completely destroyed two single-story homes and inflicted major damage on two additional ones. Six adults and three children were displaced and subsequently provided aid for temporary housing. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries from smoke inhalation while responding. They were transported to a local hospital for assessment and subsequently released. Officials are still probing the fire’s origin, with further information to be shared as it emerges. Our thoughts go out to the firefighters during their recovery. Why Fires Can Spread Quickly Between Nearby Homes. Fires in residential neighborhoods can spread quickly from one building to another, particularly when structures are built in close proximity.
