(Dana Point, CA) A crash in Dana Point, led by Bradley Gene Funk, 59, resulted in the tragic death of 13-year-old Luis Adrian Morales-Pacheco from San Juan Capistrano on Tuesday morning, November 17. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies arrived at the scene around 8:20 a.m. to Harbor Drive and Park Lantern in Dana Point. They got information about an accident involving a car and a pedestrian. Upon their arrival, the deputies discovered Morales-Pacheco in a state of extreme injury. Emergency medical technicians came to the scene and took the victim to a medical facility, where he was declared deceased. Authorities reported that Funk reportedly drove onto a sidewalk and struck Morales-Pacheco while he was on his way to school with his sibling, who remained unharmed. Eyewitnesses assisted deputies in identifying the vehicle, which led to Funk being found a short distance from the accident scene. Deputies apprehended Funk based on suspicions of hit-and-run, DUI, and second-degree murder, as he has a previous DUI conviction, according to authorities. Further details on the Dana Point Crash can be provided upon request. In a situation that includes both drinking and leaving the scene, investigators will depend on several important laws. The law against driving under the influence forbids driving a vehicle while affected by alcohol or drugs.
