Lucerne Valley, CA (February 28, 2026) – A single fatality occurred in an early-morning collision involving two trucks on Highway 247 between Lucerne Valley and Barstow. The crash was initially reported at about 1 a.m. On Friday, February 27, close to Fern Road. Officials reported that the crash involved two semi-trucks. One truck flipped over following the collision and burst into flames. Cement spilled onto the road, prompting several bystanders to stop and assist before emergency services arrived. One individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Another individual was transported to a hospital for care, although the severity of their injuries remains undisclosed. Both directions of Highway 247 were closed for several hours as crews cleared the area. Officials are still probing the reason behind the accident.
