Los Angeles, CA (September 14, 2024) – Officials are looking into a hit-and-run incident that caused injuries on Friday afternoon in the South Los Angeles region. The event took place at approximately 2:12 p.m. At the crossroads of S Avalon Blvd and E 99th St, a Code 2 alert was issued for LAPD’s South Traffic Division. First responders found that at least one person was hurt as a result of the accident. Emergency responders treated the individual on-site and then took them to a local hospital for additional assessment. The complete details of the injuries have not been revealed, but authorities have stated that the crash was severe enough to trigger a felony investigation because the suspect left the scene. Early information from LAPD radio communications categorized the incident as a felony hit-and-run involving injuries, which is subject to serious legal consequences according to California law. Officials have not provided details about the suspect vehicle, and there are currently no reports of any arrests. The intersection of Avalon and 99th, situated in a busy residential and commercial area, remained partially obstructed as police gathered evidence and spoke with witnesses. The investigation caused a slowdown in traffic in the area. Our thoughts are with the injured victim, and we wish for their quick and complete recovery.
