Lakeside, CA (January 27, 2026) – The California Highway Patrol reports that a pedestrian suffered serious injuries early Monday morning when hit by a vehicle on Winter Gardens Boulevard near Wintercrest Drive in the El Cajon area. The crash happened around 2:14 a.m. It was categorized as a 1179 traffic collision, signifying injuries and the involvement of medical units (1141). CHP officers and emergency personnel responded to the scene, where they evaluated and provided care for the pedestrian, who had sustained injuries needing urgent medical treatment. Information regarding the vehicle involved and the circumstances preceding the collision has not yet been made public. The pedestrian’s condition is still unknown, and no details have been released about the identities of those involved. The roadway was partially closed during the emergency response, and officials are investigating the incident’s cause, including potential factors like speed, lighting, or driver actions.
