Jurupa Valley, CA (February 22, 2026) – A 22-year-old man from Los Angeles was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Jurupa Valley. The incident occurred just after midnight on Saturday, February 21, near Van Buren Blvd and Jurupa Rd.. Emergency units responded to reports of a pedestrian struck in the roadway. When crews arrived, they found the man lying in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office later identified him as Sean Heiderich.. Officials said the driver who struck the man fled the area before responders arrived. Deputies searched nearby streets but were unable to locate the vehicle. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a sedan with major front-end damage, though its color has not been confirmed.. Van Buren Blvd between Jurupa Rd and Limonite Ave was temporarily closed while investigators examined the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.. Why Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crashes Are Especially Concerning. Hit-and-run crashes often delay emergency care for injured pedestrians. When a driver leaves the scene, valuable time can pass before help arrives or critical information is shared with responders.. Major roadways like Van Buren Blvd typically carry steady traffic, even during late-night hours. Reduced lighting and limited visibility after midnight can increase the risk for pedestrians walking near or across the roadway.. Front-end damage is common in pedestrian crashes, as the initial impact often occurs with the front of a vehicle. Leaving the scene of a collision is a serious offense, and locating the vehicle involved is often a key focus in these investigations.
