Santa Barbara, CA (November 3, 2025) – The California Highway Patrol reported that a crash on northbound Highway 101 near the Castillo Street offramp on Saturday morning resulted in at least one fatality. The incident was reported at approximately 6:40 a.m. This triggered a quick reaction from emergency services. Early reports suggest that a vehicle in the northbound lanes flipped over for reasons that are still unclear. When the officers and first responders reached the location, they discovered the car flipped over and heavily damaged. One person was declared dead due to the accident. The northbound lanes of Highway 101 were shut down for a while as crews looked into the incident and removed the debris. The shutdown resulted in delays for morning commuters in the area. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the deceased as they are waiting to inform the next of kin. No other injuries were reported right away, and authorities have not verified if any other vehicles were part of the incident. The California Highway Patrol is still looking into what caused the crash. Additional updates may be provided as more information is verified.
