On December 10, 2025, a fatal crash between a semi-truck and a car at an intersection in Lindsay resulted in the death of one person and left two others injured on Monday night. The accident took place shortly before 8:30 p.m. At the crossroads of Highway 137 and Road 196, as stated by the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck carrying corrosive materials was heading east on Highway 137 when it crashed into a white sedan moving south on Road 196, according to officials. The forceful collision caused the large truck to leave the road, crash into a tree, and flip over, resulting in the release of its dangerous load. Unfortunately, one person inside the car died sadly at the location. Their identity has not been revealed yet, as the family needs to be informed first. A young person in the same vehicle was injured and taken to the hospital, but their condition is currently unknown. The truck driver suffered severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The overturned semi and chemical spill prompted a hazardous materials response, causing officials to close Highway 137 between Highways 65 and 99 for several hours. Crews worked to contain the incident and ensure public safety. CHP is investigating the collision to determine the sequence of events.
