Huntington Beach, CA (December 19, 2025) – This piece provides an update on a story we previously reported. You can read the original report here. Officials have verified the identity of the driver who died in a severe rear-end crash earlier this month on Pacific Coast Highway near Warner Avenue. The victim was identified as 29-year-old Huntington Beach resident Alec Barbisan. The fatal collision happened around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, December 8, when Barbisan, behind the wheel of a white Audi Q5, rear-ended a black Ford Expedition. According to the Huntington Beach Police Department, both vehicles were heading northbound on PCH just south of Warner Ave when the crash occurred. The collision’s impact caused the Ford Expedition to flip over, ultimately coming to rest upside down on its roof in the road. The Audi swerved off the highway and stopped in the wetlands. Barbisan, the only person in the Audi, was declared dead at the scene. The Ford’s driver, a 44-year-old Sunnyvale resident, suffered minor injuries and received treatment on-site. Preliminary probe has yet to identify the crash’s cause, with the matter still under investigation. Officials have not specified if impairment, distraction, or speed played a role. We offer our deepest condolences to Alec Barbisan’s family and friends as they grieve this heartbreaking loss.
